1. As the community ushers in the New Year of 2024 according the Chinese Calendar, we have seen places and streets adorned with beautiful flowers especially the ‘Plum Blossom’, known as ‘meihua’ in Chinese. The ‘Plum Blossom’ is seen as symbol of winter and harbinger of spring. Interestingly, it blooms most vibrantly amidst the winter snow. To the Chinese, the ‘Plum Blossom’ symbolises hope and perseverance, as the Chinese saying goes ‘the fragrance of plum blossoms comes from the bitter cold, and the edge of the sword comes from sharpening’.
2. In this auspicious season, it is my pleasure to extend the warmest greetings to all those celebrating Chinese New Year. It is indeed a time to cherish the well-deserved reunion with our loved ones and to create lasting memories in our hearts.
3. To everyone else, enjoy your holiday and join our celebrating friends in welcoming the year of the dragon. In the midst of the festivity, my friendly encouragement is that we take time and reflect on the past year and gather courage to move forward. Though 2024 may not be a walk in the park, like the ‘Plum Blossom’, by the grace of God, we can bloom where we are planted.
GONG XI FA CAI and may God bless us all.
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR 2024
Thank you
